Updated Quick Equipment & Encumbrance Sheet

Here’s a bit of a blast from the past. I decided to give a little refresh to my old Quick Equipment & Encumbrance Sheet because it’s still turning out to be useful for various games I’m running.

As before, the chief purpose is to cut down on the time-consuming “Shopping Trip” portion of Character Generation, but still preserve some player choice in how they outfit their characters that goes a bit beyond the more comprehensive “kits.” There are some tricky choices baked in, but I if you wanted to speed things up even more, you can always just have the players roll 6d12 (but I’ve found this tends to lead to a lot of table time spent “swapping” sometimes). With a few quick checkmarks/highlighters the adventurers are ready to go, with all of their Equipment on a single handy sheet.

  1. I'm dubious of some of those armors! Mule?? What does "Any Weapon 1 (2 Handed)" mean? Does "Long Bow or Heavy" have an omitted Crossbow?

    1. Heh, you've spotted an intentional design choice! :)
      Not all Classes can use Armor, and other high ticket items fall into this column as part of the "meaningful decisions" part that's sneakily built into this :) that's also why there's a bit of repetition throughout, since you only generally get one pick from each column, you have to be strategic sometimes. Dwarves (with their extra Armor pick) and Magic Users are generally the ones that might consider picking a Mule, but even then travelling light is pretty deeply encoded in this :).

      Any Weapon 1 (2 Handed) means you can select any of the 1 Handed Weapons in that Weapon 1 Column...it's just 2 Handed now (so this is where your big Swords, Battleaxes, Longer Spears etc. live :).

      Fixed the overflow with Long Bow as well (you were correct, it was a Heavy Crossbow hiding in the margins (notice how it doesn't come with ammo!).
